The central government’s National Career Service (NCS) portal which provides a variety of career-related services has more than 10 lakh vacancies on offer, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Rameshwar Teli mentioned in Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
As per the data available till December 18, 2023, there are over 10.45 lakh active vacancies on the NCS portal. Notably, the portal mobilised 34,81,944 vacancies and 8,19,827 registered employers in 2022-2023. Further, the platform provided 13,46,765 job offers in 2021-22.
Aimed at connecting the opportunities with the aspirating job seekers, the ICT-based portal facilitates the registration of job seekers, job providers, skill providers, and career counselors, among others.
Salient features of NCS portal
The National Career Service (NCS) project is being implemented by the union government to provide a variety of employment-related services. As of 2023, the integration of the NCS portal with the state employment portals has been completed with 28 states/UTs and 7 states/UTs are directly using the NCS portal for job registration.
The platform provides more than 1,100 approved career counselors for providing career guidance to the jobseekers. Besides, it offers a knowledge repository of career content on 3600 job roles. The NCS portal also provides online employability skill assessment to view the employability quotient.
As of December 2022, there are 2.76 crore jobseekers registered on the portal, of which 1.15 crore (42%) are youth belonging to the tier 2 and tier 3 cities of the country.
