Mumbai University results 2017 controversy: Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao on Sunday directed the vice chancellor of Mumbai University to announce the results of as many as 11,981 candidates which were reserved on a top priority. Rao had also ordered the university to carry out the revaluation of 46,806 answer sheets as per the given time-frame, PTI quoted a spokesperson of the Raj Bhavan saying. “The governor lauded acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Devanand Shinde, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dhiren Patel and Director, Board of Examination and Evaluation Arjun Ghatule for completing the task of the declaration of the results of all 477 examinations,” the spokesperson told the news agency.
The governor who is also the chancellor of all public universities in the state inspected the progress of declaration of results several exams conducted by the university. He reviewed the situation and was accompanied by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Minister of Higher and Technical Education Vinod Tawde. According to the statement given by the spokesperson, the leaders reviewed the preparations made by the university for organising the upcoming examination scheduled to take place between November 8 and December 20.
The Maharashtra Governor also asked the university to release the results of these aforementioned examinations within 30-45 days as allocated by the Public Universities Act. Apart from this Rao and Fadnavis analysed the plans made for reforming the examination, marks evaluation and declaration of results.
It was also suggested to the higher and technical education department along with Mumbai university to setup a task force in order to conduct an academic audit for all colleges falling under its ambit.
Keeping in mind the previous mistakes made by the University in the declaration of results, Fadnavis said that this should not happen twice as the Mumbai University is one of the esteemed University of the country and every measure will be taken to enhance its reputation.
Rao asserted on the fact that all colleges affiliated with the Mumbai University to comply with the standards of academic excellence.

The governor also reviewed the financial condition of the university and directed that a proper appraisal should be carried out by appointing competent agencies and taking necessary corrective steps, the spokesperson informed.
