Greater Noida based Galgotias University held its 9th Convocation Ceremony on May 7, 2025, at its Greater Noida campus, honouring the achievements of the Class of 2024. The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished guests, including Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Brijesh Pathak, MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma, MLA Dhirendra Singh, and entrepreneur Aman Gupta.
Chief Guest Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, delivered the keynote address. He commended the university for ranking third in India in patent filings and applauded its growing emphasis on innovation and research. Highlighting the role of young professionals in India’s rise as the world’s fourth-largest economy, he said students are increasingly contributing to the country’s progress through their ideas and entrepreneurial spirit.
Goyal also lauded the students of Galgotias University for showcasing startup ideas and displaying early signs of entrepreneurial thinking. Encouraging them to embrace challenges and think creatively, he said, “Young innovators and professionals are contributing to the nation’s progress.” Referring to Operation Sindoor, he urged students to build a safer and more secure India through knowledge and responsibility.
Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak congratulated the graduating batch, appreciating the university’s contribution to higher education. “Galgotias University is now recognised both in India and abroad. Its students are contributing in various sectors and this convocation reflects their efforts,” he stated.
Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament, praised the leadership of Chancellor Suneel Galgotia and CEO Dhruv Galgotia. Acknowledging their consistent efforts in driving the university’s growth, he said, “Galgotias University has grown steadily under their guidance.” He also invoked Operation Sindoor and encouraged graduates to serve the nation with “a sense of responsibility, courage and discipline.”
Dhirendra Singh, MLA of Jewar Vidhan Sabha, spoke about India’s ongoing development and the transformations underway in his constituency. Urging students to be active participants in national progress, he remarked, “Jewar is gradually becoming a centre of new opportunities. As future professionals, you have a role in continuing this development.”
Guest of Honour and entrepreneur Aman Gupta, known for his role on Shark Tank India, brought a candid and relatable touch to the ceremony. Reflecting on his own journey, he shared, “I didn’t get one either,” referring to medals or ranks. He advised students not to be discouraged by such markers and added, “When someone says you can’t do it, just say — ‘Hum bhi bana lenge’.”
Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, recalled a touching moment when Piyush Goyal humbly asked his security team to step aside. Describing it as a rare act of humility, he said,
“Piyush Goyal’s presence at our 9th Convocation was deeply inspiring. Despite his global responsibilities, he engaged wholeheartedly with our students and faculty, taking time to explore our AI Knowledge Centre and iOS Development Centre with genuine interest. His vision for a self-reliant India and his message to the youth as nation builders left a lasting impact. Shri Goyal ji truly embodies leadership with both purpose and heart.”
A total of 225 medals were awarded during the ceremony—104 Gold, 77 Silver, and 44 Bronze—honouring students across various disciplines for their consistent academic performance.
In his concluding remarks, Chancellor Mr. Suneel Galgotia expressed gratitude to the dignitaries and shared a message for the graduates:
“This day marks the end of one phase and the beginning of another. At Galgotias University, our goal is to provide students with a strong foundation in education and values. We believe each of you will make a positive contribution wherever you go.”
