The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has published the list of candidates who have qualified for the CSE Prelims 2024. This list includes the names and roll numbers of students eligible for the CSE Mains examination 2024. The list is available on the official UPSC website – upsc.gov.in.

This year, the Commission has recommended 14,627 students for the UPSC CSE Mains examination. The Civil Service Examination- Prelims 2024 was conducted nationwide on June 16 in two shifts. Over 1.34 million candidates participated in the UPSC CSE Prelims 2024. The exam was initially scheduled for May 26 but was postponed due to the general elections as per the Election Commission’s directive.

The commission has previously announced that there are 150 vacancies for IFoS and 1,056 for CSE. This year’s vacancies have decreased compared to 1,105 positions last year. However, there were only 712 vacancies in 2021 and 796 in 2020.

Experts have noted that the UPSC prelims exam was easier this year compared to 2023. Deepanshu Singh, an educator and mentor for UPSC aspirants, mentioned, “There were fewer ‘pair type’ questions and more ‘match the columns’ type questions.”

The UPSC CSE exam is conducted in three stages: prelims, mains, and the personality test. These stages are used to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other Grade A and B posts in the central government and its departments.
