Around 180 prisoners across various jails in Uttar Pradesh have successfully cleared the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. The results were announced on Saturday by the Uttar Pradesh State Board of High School and Intermediate Education. This year, the pass percentage for Class 10 stood at an impressive 89.55, while for Class 12, it was 82.60.

Out of the 91 prisoners who appeared for the Class 10 exams, an overwhelming majority of 89 successfully cleared it. Similarly, 87 out of 105 inmates who sat for the Class 12 papers were able to clear the examination.

Notably, Ghaziabad emerged as a hub of academic achievement among prisoners, with 21 inmates appearing for the Class 12 exams, out of which 17 secured passing marks. Additionally, 11 prisoners from Bulandshahr jail and all four from Hardoi jail successfully cleared the board exams.

These results mark a continuation of the positive trend observed in previous years. In 2023, 95% of prisoners who undertook the Class 10 exams cleared them, while over 70% succeeded in Class 12. Moreover, the Department of Prisons reported that in the 2023 exams, 57 out of 60 inmates passed Class 10, with an impressive 82.40% achieving first-division marks. Similarly, 45 out of 64 prisoners cleared the Class 12 exams, with 13.30% securing first-division marks.
