Oxford University Press India, an educational resources provider claims to have developed ‘The Learning Train’, a foundation series centred around interactive activities. The comprehensive series encompasses a total of 15 books, organised into three distinct levels – beginner, level one and level two. Within each level, the series offers dedicated books for English, Mathematics, Hindi, Creative Skills and Environmental Awareness, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience, Sonia Relia, author, My Learning Train series, Oxford University Press India, told FE Education. “My Learning Train uses activity-based methods called KINOLEARN and KINOPHONICS, emphasising cost-effectiveness and interactive group learning. The content is designed considering childrens’ age, interests and learning abilities according to the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), 2022, making it a useful guide for teachers in the classroom,” she said.
KINOLEARN and KINOPHONICS, utilises readily available and affordable resources to enable educators in implementing activity-based learning. It aims to transform every classroom into a vibrant learning hub, featuring visually engaging displays and instructional materials to foster interactive group learning. Moreover, this approach extends its support to parents, empowering them to continue the learning experience at home. “This methodology has been instrumental in developing a comprehensive activity kit, comprising a wide array of resources such as posters, flashcards, board games and story reading cards. These tools aim to enable schools to establish fully equipped learning centres even with limited financial resources,” Relia said.
Furthermore, the Oxford University Press India claims that My Learning Train comprises 12,00 digital worksheets which includes 120 stories, 400 audios and 130 author videos to guide teachers and parents. “The series encompasses various regions through a diverse array of activities, stories, art forms, visual representations and lessons. It incorporates activities and storytelling traditions from different parts of India, thus rendering the curriculum a true reflection of India’s rich diversity,” she said while responding to a query regarding how My Learning Train ensures quality early childhood education, especially in diverse regions of India.
