The Odisha government has announced financial support for state-run medical colleges and post-graduate institutes to bolster research endeavours. The government emphasised its commitment to enhancing the standard of medical education and research statewide by allocating funds to all government medical and dental colleges, as well as post-graduate institutes, according to an official statement.

Under this initiative, SCB Medical College and Hospital (MCH) in Cuttack, MKCG MCH in Berhampur and VIMSAR in Burla will each receive an annual grant of Rs one crore. Similarly, new government medical colleges and the SCB Dental College in Cuttack will be allocated Rs 50 lakh per annum, the statement mentioned.

Furthermore, each state-run PG institute will receive Rs 25 lakh annually. This collective provision amounts to a total annual budget of Rs 9 crore for the stated purpose. The allocated funds aim to bolster educational quality by supporting research activities, publications, and participation in national seminars and conferences, it added.
