The last date to apply for the National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) is today, October 13 according to the Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) Telangana. Aspiring candidates should visit the official website,bse.telangana.gov.in, before the registration portal closes.

The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (N.M.M.S.S.) is a program that is supported centrally by the Ministry for Human Resource Development of the Government of India.

As per the official schedule, the exam for class 8 will be conducted on December 10, 2023. It will be a three-hour long exam between 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Also, the revenue divisional headquarters in 33 districts within the state will host the NMMS Scholarship 2023 exam. The exam can be given in four languages, Telugu, Hindi, Urdu, and English.

Candidates can review the qualifications listed below:

  • The SC/ST candidates must have scored at least 50% of the possible points in the class 7th exams (academic year 2022–2023).
  • Candidates whose parent’s income does not surpass Rs. 3,50,00 per year.
  • Students who attended Zila Parishad non-residential, regional government, government-aided, and model schools are also eligible to apply. Students attending model schools with residential facilities, however, are not eligible.

The minimum criteria for qualifying students is:

  • The cut-off for SC/ST students will be 32%, while the minimum qualifying marks for each paper will be 40%.
  • Selection would be based on merit, subject to quotas assigned district- and community-wise in accordance with rules established by MHRD New Delhi.

Candidates are required to submit examination fees while filling the registration form which is available on the official website. The examination fees differ for general category students and quota students. Candidates belonging to SC or ST category have to submit Rs. 50 whereas general amount is Rs. 100.

The NMMSS exam takes place every year to provide scholarships to students studying class VIII in Government/ Local Body/Municipal/Aided Schools/ Modal schools which have no residential facility(i.e. from non-residential Schools only).
