The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a reduction in the syllabus for the NEET-UG medical entrance exam to align it with the curriculum adjustments made by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and various other school boards. Scheduled for May 5th next year, the NEET-UG is the nation’s largest medical admissions examination, according to an official statement.

The NTA conveyed that the Undergraduate Medical Education Board, an autonomous body under the National Medical Commission, has finalised the syllabus for NEET (UG)-2024. The detailed syllabus has been made available on the National Medical Commission’s website for public reference. Stakeholders, especially aspiring candidates, are urged to consult the updated syllabus for NEET (UG)-2024 in preparing study materials and for the NEET (UG) examinations in the academic session 2024-25, the statement mentioned.

NTA officials have confirmed that this decision aligns with the rationalisation of syllabi by CBSE and school boards. Earlier this month, the NTA similarly adjusted the syllabus for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main) 2024 to synchronise with the revised curriculum of CBSE and other state boards for the current academic year, as per the statement.

Since 2021, CBSE and many state boards have adopted a rationalised syllabus to alleviate the academic burden on students, it added.
