The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) for this year was allegedly leaked, leading to the arrest of the principal and vice-principal of Jharkhand’s Oasis School on the same day, The Indian Express reported.  The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has now arrested a journalist from Hazaribagh for allegedly aiding the two accused.

As per the report, a source said the accused, Mohd Jamaludin, is employed by a reputable Hindi daily. The CBI obtained significant technical evidence against Jamaludin, which led to his arrest.

The National Testing Agency (NTA)-designated NEET-UG coordinator for the Hazaribagh area, Imtiaz Alam, and the school’s vice-principal, Dr. Ehsanul Haque, were taken into custody by the agency on Friday. Both are associated with Oasis School in Jharkhand, which is where investigators believe the purported leak happened.

Two Patna residents were detained by the CBI on Thursday. They were accused of arranging lodging for NEET-UG candidates on May 4, the day before the exam, and the day they were supposed to commit the answered problem to memory. In addition to five further arrests made later, there are 13 accused in this case, including the four examinees.

The CBI was given the task of conducting “a comprehensive investigation” into the purported discrepancies in this year’s NEET (UG) by the education ministry on June 22.

In the meantime, investigations were carried out at seven locations in Gujarat by the CBI, which assumed control of the inquiry from the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) in Bihar, authorities informed news agency PTI on Saturday. The operation is said to have begun in the morning at the premises of suspects spread across four districts of Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad and Godhra.
