Amid NEET-NET paper leak issue, the centre’s seven-member high-level panel aimed at proposing examination reforms is likely to meet today, June 24. The committee is headed by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan.

“In an expedited action, the panel will have its first meeting on Monday. The committee is slated to submit its report within two months. The reforms recommended will be implemented by the next exam cycle. The panel will also look into the exam calendar and make suggestions,” a source told PTI.

The panel includes members such as former AIIMS-Delhi director Randeep Guleria, University of Hyderabad Vice-Chancellor BJ Rao, IIT-Madras professor emeritus K Ramamurthy, People Strong co-founder Pankaj Bansal, IIT-Delhi Dean of Student Affairs Aditya Mittal, and Education Ministry Joint Secretary Govind Jaiswal.

The Ministry of Education has outlined several key objectives for the panel. It will review and propose improvements to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols of the NTA. This includes examining existing security protocols related to paper setting and other processes to bolster system robustness. Additionally, the committee will explore ways to improve data security protocols and ensure the smooth, fair, and transparent conduct of examinations.

A source from the Union education ministry said that the panel will work expediently, with a report expected within two months. The proposed reforms are anticipated to be implemented by the next exam cycle, ensuring a more reliable and efficient examination process. The panel will also review the exam calendar and provide suggestions for optimization.

The NTA had previously disqualified 63 students in Bihar for using unfair methods during the NEET-UG exam. On Saturday, it disqualified an additional 30 students from Godhara, Gujarat. Recently, 17 more students have been disqualified, bringing the total number of disqualified students to 110.
