Manoj Sinha, lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir has inaugurated a three-day capacity building programme focused on ‘leadership development of academic administrators’. He emphasised that education should prioritise creativity over curriculum to nurture the creative capacities of young individuals. Sinha stressed the commitment of the union territory to reform and enhance higher education, aiming to provide students with top-notch curriculum and equip them with skills to compete globally, according to an official statement.
Sinha underscored the importance of creativity-driven education for a more competitive economy. He commended the University of Jammu and National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) for organising the workshop, which centres on implementing the National Education Policy 2020 and internationalising higher education.
Addressing educators and institution heads, Sinha outlined five aims and a vision for fostering future-oriented education, emphasising the role of classrooms as facilitators of imagination and the importance of mentoring in addition to teaching. He called upon the teaching community, students, and stakeholders to work towards establishing Jammu Kashmir as a knowledge economy and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Sinha also stressed the need to create a conducive environment for foreign students in the union territory’s educational institutions.
