KIIT University, one of Odisha’s leading educational institutions, claims to have implemented a series of measures to restore normalcy on campus following a recent incident involving a Nepali student. The administration claims to have taken steps to ensure student safety, address concerns and maintain uninterrupted academic activities, according to an official press release.

As part of its response, the university claims to have established a 24/7 control room to assist its Nepali student community. Additionally, after an internal review, disciplinary action was taken against certain staff members. University officials emphasised that these measures reflect their commitment to institutional policies and student well-being, the release mentioned.

Despite recent developments, KIIT has proceeded with its scheduled academic and extracurricular events. Over the past ten days, the university has successfully hosted several national and international programs:

The East Zone Inter-University Cricket Championship, featuring 70 universities and 1,600 participants, was conducted seamlessly on campus.

Two major international conferences—the 2nd International Workshop on Dam Safety and the International Conference on Recent Advances in Nanomedicine—each attracted over 500 researchers, academicians, and industry experts.

The university welcomed delegations from Harvard University, Japan, and other global institutions, with over 60 international academic leaders engaging in discussions with students and faculty.

KIIT also hosted the Association of Indian Universities’ Central Zone Vice-Chancellors’ Meet, reinforcing its role in shaping higher education policies and institutional governance.

Additional academic collaborations, meetings with embassy representatives, and institutional activities have continued as planned.

“We remain committed to providing a safe and uninterrupted learning environment for all students,” the release stated.

While concerns were initially raised about potential disruptions, the administration has assured that classes, research, and institutional activities remain on track. The campus environment is reported to be stable, with students attending lectures and academic sessions progressing as usual, it added.
