The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee is the organizing institute for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. IIT Roorkee has launched the new GATE 2025 website at gate2025.iitr.ac.in.

GATE 2025 will be a computer-based test (CBT), conducted by IISc Bengaluru and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI).

The exam will last for three hours and feature a total of 30 test papers, which include both full papers and sectional papers. The sections will be General Aptitude (GA) and the candidate’s chosen subjects. In these subjects, there will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

The distribution of marks for all papers, except for AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL, will be as follows:

– General Aptitude: 15 marks

– Engineering Mathematics**: 13 marks

– Subject Questions: 72 marks

– Total: 100 marks

(**The XE paper includes the Engineering Mathematics section XE-A, which is worth 15 marks.)

For papers AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL, the distribution will be:

– General Aptitude: 15 marks

– Subject Questions: 85 marks

– Total: 100 marks

Incorrect answers on MCQs will incur negative marking. For a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer, and for a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers on MSQ or NAT questions, and no partial marking in MSQ.

In 2024, GATE was conducted on February 3, 4, 10, and 11. The response sheets were released on February 15, the answer keys and question papers on February 19, and the results on March 16.

GATE is a national-level examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities.
