The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has received a generous donation of Rs 1 crore to its endowment fund from Amarjit Bakshi, the founder, chairman and managing director of the Bakshi Group of Enterprises. An alumnus of the 1967 batch, Bakshi made this contribution as part of a pledge he initiated in 2017.

According to an official statement, the donation aims to strengthen IIT Delhi’s capabilities in research, enhance educational opportunities and nurture future leaders.

Reflecting on his contribution, Bakshi remarked, “IIT Delhi has been the cornerstone of my professional journey, and I am privileged to contribute to its development. This endowment is dedicated to advancing the institute’s ability to deliver world-class education, support cutting-edge research, and nurture future leaders. My vision is for IIT Delhi to continue providing transformative solutions for society and creating exceptional learning opportunities for future generations.”

Expressing gratitude, IIT Delhi Director Prof. Rangan Banerjee said, “Amarjit Bakshi’s steadfast commitment to the Endowment Fund exemplifies the deep connection he shares with his alma mater. His generous contributions significantly enhance the institute’s academic and research strengths, inspiring other alumni to follow suit.”

During the announcement, Bakshi also proposed a visionary Peer Teaching Initiative at IIT Delhi. This programme aims to empower senior students to lead interactive sessions, sharing their expertise with junior students. By fostering a culture of mentorship and collaborative learning, the initiative seeks to enrich the overall academic experience and equip students with leadership skills.

This initiative aligns with Bakshi’s broader vision for IIT Delhi, which emphasizes cultivating well-rounded individuals capable of making a meaningful societal impact.
