The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has officially postponed the remaining papers of the Chartered Accountants (CA) Final, Intermediate, and Post Qualification Course (PQC) Exams. The papers were scheduled to take place from May 9 to May 14, 2025. This decision has been taken due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. This news has affected candidates across the country, especially in 12 high alert cities, which are near the border.

ICAI Postpones May 2025 CA Exams Citing Security Concerns Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions

The affected cities include Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Jodhpur, Bhuj, Chandigarh, Sri Ganganagar, Pathankot, Jammu, Bikaner, Amritsar, Srinagar, and Bhatinda. These areas are currently under heightened security measures, including blackouts and restrictions on movements, particularly around Jammu and Kathua of the Jammu division.

The ICAI’s official notification released on May 8, 2025 states, ”In view of the tense and uncertain security situation in the country, the remaining papers of Chartered Accountants Final, Intermediate, and Post Qualification Course Examinations (International Taxation-Assessment Test (INTT AT) May 2025 from 9th May 2025 to 14 May 2025, stand postponed.”

The revised dates for the examinations will be announced later. Meanwhile, candidates are advised to regularly check the ICAI’s website-www.icai.org for latest updates.

The postponement aligns with India’s ongoing large-scale military operation in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack. Operation Sindoor was launched this week, which has prompted heightened security and emergency measures protocols across India.

Several state governments have announced the closure of schools in high-risk areas, and leave of policemen has not been approved near the border. Security agencies are on high alert, as missile interception units and drone surveillance units have been stationed in major areas. Students have been advised to follow only verified updates related to the examination form ICAI.
