GATE 2018: The registration/application process for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2018 will start from September 1, 2017. The students who are interested may apply for the same through GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The students must apply before September 5, as it is the last date for filing the application form. To fill the form, applicants may visit GOAPS website. The candidates can check detailed notification at GATE’s official website – gate.iitg.ac.in. The exams for GATE 2018 is scheduled to be held on 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th February next year. The exams will be conducted in two slots: Forenoon, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon and Afternoon, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

GATE is an all India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and technology. For the students seeking admission in Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science, in the institutions supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies, it is mandatory for them to qualify GATE. Even in some colleges and institutions, which admit students without MHRD scholarship/assistantship, the GATE qualification is mandatory. Further, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the GATE score in their recruitment process.

The GATE 2018 will be conducted on 23 subjects. Examination for all the 23 subjects will be conducted as online Computer Based Test (CBT). On the website, it has been clearly mentioned that the candidates have to register and fill the application via ONLINE mode only at GOAPS, while the link will be made available on the official website of GATE.

The payment of application fees is through electronic mode itself. The application fee is neither refundable nor transferable. The application fee for female candidates is Rs 750 for SC/ST/PwD category candidates is Rs 750 and for all other candidates, the fee is Rs 1500.
