Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of education, skill development and entrepreneurship, graced the National Conference on APAAR: One Nation One Student ID Card in New Delhi on Tuesday. Pradhan underscored the APAAR ID’s significance as a coveted and internationally recognised document for students nationwide. He highlighted the proliferation of crucial Digital Public Infrastructures (DPIs), noting that 53 such infrastructures have emerged across 16 countries, with 19 being established in India, according to an official statement.

Pradhan commended the role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in facilitating seamless integration and migration provisions while upholding educational standards. He stressed the aspirational nature of competency attainment through skill development alongside knowledge acquisition, the statement mentioned.

Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, highlighted the extensive reach of APAAR IDs, aligning with its Hindi meaning. He outlined NEP 2020’s vision, emphasising key recommendations such as achieving 100% Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) up to Class 12 and fostering industry-aligned skill proficiency.

K. Sanjay Murthy, Secretary of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, elaborated on the advantages of APAAR IDs and Samarth, another significant DPI, emphasising seamless integration and access. He urged institutions to embrace the Samarth platform.
