The second phase of the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) 2024 for Grade III posts will take place across the state on Sunday, with special arrangements in place to ensure a smooth and transparent process, according to an official statement.

The first phase of the Grade III written examination occurred on September 15, during which mobile internet services were suspended statewide for over three hours to maintain fairness and transparency.

Northeast Frontier Railway launches special trains

To assist candidates, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will operate six pairs of special trains.

Approximately 18.5 lakh candidates have applied for various Grade III positions. The upcoming second phase will include examinations for bachelor’s degree-level and HSLC-level (driver) Grade III posts. Admit cards with candidate instructions have already been issued, along with some additional guidelines. Candidates are advised to verify their examination centre location a day in advance and to arrive at least one and a half hours before the exam for thorough checks and frisking.

Assam ADRE Exam 2024 guidelines

The Home and Political Department has released a standard operating procedure (SOP) for frisking candidates due to previous allegations of improper searches during the first phase, particularly involving female candidates. For added comfort, there will be designated enclosures for female candidates, staffed by either an Anganwadi worker or an ASHA worker near the frisking area. In case of any improper frisking, candidates should promptly report to the centre in-charge.

To expedite the frisking process, candidates are encouraged to wear half-sleeve clothing and slippers rather than shoes. Following the examination, candidates will be allowed to take their question booklets home, and senior-level officers will serve as central observers to ensure the examination proceeds smoothly.

NFR officials have confirmed that six special trains will run to support candidates travelling for the ADRE on Sunday, making a total of 12 trips to facilitate their journeys. Written tests for Grade IV posts, which attract about 13.7 lakh applicants, will be conducted on separate dates. The first ADRE, conducted by the State Level Recruitment Commission, took place in August 2022, during which mobile internet services were suspended for four hours across nearly all districts.
