The School of Management, Ajeenkya DY Patil University, Pune claims to offer a number of Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) courses in partnership with international business schools from France, Thailand, UK, UAE, among others. The aim behind partnering with international institutions is to elevate the educational experience in response to global technological shifts. A joint degree enhances the credibility of both institution and students, allowing for credit transfers and expanding student entry options globally, Ajeenkiya DY Patil, president, Aneenkiya DY Patil University, Pune, told FE Education. “Beyond academics, we focus on preparing students for dynamic careers, emphasising areas such as artificial intelligence, sports management, biotech, supply chain management and international business. We are trying to combine the foundational knowledge with diverse skills like finance, marketing, and HR, preparing them for the multifaceted demands of the business world,” he noted.

Further, the institute claims to have collaborated with more than 45 universities worldwide including the MBA ESG French Business School, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, De Montfort University of Dubai, Asian Institute of Technology Thailand, Teeside University, UK, Taylors University of Malaysia, Asian Institute of Technology Thailand, among others. “Partnering with institutions like ESG provides unique advantages, particularly with its international recognition and multinational associations. Beyond Indian job markets, students gain access to broader career prospects and higher education opportunities, such as European universities. Exposure to international faculty goes beyond the joint degree, providing valuable insights into global cultures and diverse working environments,” Patil said.

Moreover, the university asserted that  currently its Pune campus houses about 13,000 students. Of this the management department houses approximately 280 to 300 students. For its management department, the institute claims to have a placement rate of 90%. For placement purposes, the institute claims to have partnerships with multiple companies and claims to customise its courses and prepare students according to companies’ requirements after consultation with them. Further, the institute stated that 10-12% of its management students opt for entrepreneurship. “Collaborating with industries, we engage with their teams two or one year ahead of time to understand their needs. Based on their input, we customise courses, ensuring they align with industry demands. This approach guarantees placements for specific students in the targeted industrial sectors,” he detailed.

Moreover, the institute claims to be working towards making higher education more affordable and accessible to students with diverse regional and economic backgrounds. It further claims that this will be achieved through the provision of educational loans and  assistance in availing government scholarships such as  National Scholarship by Central Government, Pune Municipal Corporation and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Central Railway scholarship, Police Employees Ward Scholarship, CRPF Employees ward Scholarship, Siblings Scholarship and Referral Scholarship. The institute further stated that last year 258 students of its management school benefited from these scholarships.  The institute quickly highlighted maintaining quality of education and assuring affordability is quite a difficult task for private institutions. “Achieving high quality often presents a challenge in terms of affordability, as creating and maintaining top-notch infrastructure demands considerable resources and the establishment of centres of excellence. The costs associated with infrastructure development can only be recuperated through fees, making it a vital source of funding for institutions. So for a private organisation, this becomes a bit tricky,” Patil explained.
