Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday alleged that the Congress in its election manifesto has promised that the party, if voted to power, would give the minorities a free hand in cow slaughter in the country.

Addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal Lok Sabha constituency, the CM said, “In besharmon ko dekho ye kaise Bharat ki aastha ke saath khilwad kar rahe hain. Jis gaay ko hum maata kehte hai aur pooja karte hai, usse ye kasaiyon ko denge katne ke liye. Kya Hindustan ise sweekar karega? (see how these shameless people are trying to play with the religious sentiments of people of Bharat. They will hand over the cow which we worship and treat like mother to butchers for slaughter. Will India accept this?),” The Indian Express reported.

“These shameless people promise to provide the right to eat ‘gaumaans’ (cow’s meat), whereas our scriptures call the cow mother. They wish to give cows into the hands of butchers. Will India ever accept this?” An Uttar Pradesh BJP statement quoted Adityanath as saying.

Adityanath said that besides promising inheritance tax, the Congress has added cow slaughter to its manifesto.

The chief minister said they wanted to give minorities the liberty to eat the food of their choice, “meaning they are talking about allowing cow slaughter”, PTI reported.

Adityanath was addressing an election rally in Bilari in Moradabad district to garner support for BJP candidate Parmeshwar Lal Saini for the Sambhal Lok Sabha seat.

“I have come to know that the brother and sister (Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi) are now preparing to go for a darshan of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. These are the same people who used to question the existence of Lord Ram earlier. And when the Supreme Court gave the go-ahead for the construction of the Ram Temple, now they are saying that Ram is everywhere. Never trust these people,” he said.

While the grandmother (Indira Gandhi) promised poverty alleviation in India in the 1970s, her grandson is also speaking the same language after nearly 50 years, he added.

Echoing the recent speeches by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM alleged the Congress intends to seize the ‘stridhan’ (women’s wealth), and distribute it among Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators.

He claimed the Congress in its manifesto has talked about the X-ray of people’s property.

“This means that if somebody has four rooms in his home, two of those will be taken away by them. Not only this, the Congress says that it will take possession of women’s jewellery, the country will never accept this,” he said.

They had made such efforts from 2004 to 2014 under the UPA government, Adityanath said.

“They had tried to give a quota to Muslims out of the reservation provided to the SCs, STs and OBCs in Karnataka,” he said.

He referred to the Sachar Committee recommendations and said the Congress wanted to implement it by giving six per cent reservation to them out of the quota for the SCs, STs and OBCs.

Accusing the Congress of double standards, he claimed that former prime minister Manmohan Singh had said that Muslims have the first right to the country’s resources.

The UP chief minister also alleged that Congress is hatching a conspiracy for further division of the country.

Taking a jibe at Congress’ Amroha candidate and MP Danish Ali, without naming him, the CM said, “Those who live in this country are hesitant to chant Vande Mataram in Parliament. Should our vote go to such venomous people who have no regard for the country? They are trying to engineer another conspiracy to divide the country through your vote. Beware of them.”

Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh will vote in the third phase on May 7.
