Since his first press conference on August 7, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been intensifying his allegations of vote theft, accusing both the Election Commission and the BJP of manipulating electoral outcomes. Gandhi’s allegations have triggered sharp responses from political rivals. Meanwhile, in an interview with NDTV, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was asked why Rahul Gandhi claims EVMs can be hacked. Responding in Hindi, she said, “70 saal se woh EVM hack kar rahe the tab kuch nahi ho raha tha. Humne kar liya toh bura lag gaya” (“It wasn’t a problem when they hacked EVMs for 70 years. Now when we have done it, they feel bad.”)

Gupta further questioned Gandhi’s assertions and asked, “If they win then it is the order of the people, and if we win then the EVM is hacked. In which book is this formula written? Where did Rahul Gandhi study this?” She accused him of misleading the public.

The statement quickly drew attention on social media. Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal shared the clip on X, posting, “What is the Delhi Chief Minister saying?”

Rahul Gandhi’s ‘vote-chori’ claims

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha has repeatedly claimed that online votes and EVMs are being tampered with, asserting that opposition-leaning voters are the biggest victims of this alleged conspiracy. Gandhi stated earlier that he would “drop an atom bomb” against vote rigging, later escalating the rhetoric to a “hydrogen bomb” at the conclusion of his Voter Rights Yatra in Bihar.
