Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been known to maintain that Ram Mandir will be built in Ayodhya. Whether that happens now that he is in the CM’s chair is still a debatable issue, but there was at least one man who had firm belief in Yogi’s abilities to do exactly that. And his belief was so strong that his late teacher and mentor, Guru Aavaidyanath went on record time and again to say that Yogi is the man to do the job of fulfilling his incomplete dream of building Ram Mandir.
Mahant Aavaidyanath had a vital role to play to play in the ‘Ram Janambhoomi’ Movement. In 1984 he became the President of ‘Ram Janmabhoomi Mukht Yagnaa Samiti’ and spent his life in search of finding a solution to this controversy.During his last days, if anyone would ask him about the Ram Mandir issue, he would reply saying ‘chote maharaj’ (Yogi Adityanath) would complete the job which Mahant himsef couldn’t complete. Guru Aavaidyanath breathed his last on 12 December 2014.

According to a Times of India report, sources close to Guru Aavaidyanath said that, to solve the Ram Mandir controversy he had tried to consider things in a meeting with the President of the Ayodhya Jama Masjid Trust Ahmed Asgar Rizwi and the head of the opposition Hashim Ansari. His sources further said that he firmly believed that the whole issue will be sorted before his death. Mahant Avaidyanath selected present Uttar Pradesh CM and Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath as his successor of ‘Gaurakhspith’. It was with his blessings that Yogi had fought and won an election as an MP.
