Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday said that the opposition parties will work to make Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister of India. Urging voters to choose the Mahagathbandhan alliance in the assembly elections in November this year, Yadav said once in power in Bihar, they would work in direction to make Rahul Gandhi the PM of the country after the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
“In the upcoming assembly polls, we shall root out the NDA, which has been running a government comparable to a rickety old car (‘khatara’) for the last 20 years. And, in the next Lok Sabha polls, we shall make Rahul Gandhi the prime minister,” Tejashwi said, amid loud cheers from the crowd.

The rallies are to aware people about the alleged vote theft by the Election Commission of India (ECI) through the Special Intensive Review (SIR) in poll-bound Bihar.
The opposition’s INDIA bloc has taken out a fortnight-long ‘vote adhikar’ yatra, which began on Sunday against the alleged “vote chori” in Bihar. On Tuesday, addressing one rally, RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav described id Rahu Gandhi as the one “who has given sleepless nights to Prime Minister Narendra Modi”.
‘Modi ji will…’: BJP reacts to Yadav’s claims
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said none of the opposition members would be able to become the leader they want to, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi “will leave no space for them”.
Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary said, “These people will no longer become leaders, Modi ji will not leave any space for them.”

Vijay Kumar Sinha, Bihar Deputy CM, said the opposition leaders just sit together and decide who would become what. “They sit among themselves and decide to make someone a Prime Minister, someone a Chief Minister, even a President. They are the villains of this country, and in the Bihar elections, no matter how much they try, the people of Bihar, the land of democracy, will teach them a lesson,” he added.
EC’s SIR stirs massive row
The opposition has been protesting against the poll panel’s SIR exercise in Bihar, that is being done just months before the crucial assembly elections. The Supreme Court recently asked the ECI to make public the names of 65 lakh deleted voters on its portal, which the opposition considered a big win for them.
Meanwhile, Yadav stated that the exercise was meant to “snatch” people’s right to vote. “The SIR is dacoity of votes and we will not allow that to happen. It’s a conspiracy of the ruling dispensation to disenfranchise voters in Bihar,” he alleged, quoted PTI.
“The BJP and the EC think they can take the people of Bihar for a ride. But, they need to know that in Bihar, we mix lime with khaini (raw tobacco) and swallow it without a fuss. We are Biharis. And as the saying goes, a Bihari can take on anybody,” the 35-year-old RJD leader said.
