A road accident near the Delhi Cantonment metro station on Sunday claimed the life of Navjot Singh, Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance. Singh was riding his motorcycle with his wife when a BMW allegedly rammed into them from behind on Ring Road, police said.
Singh, a resident of Hari Nagar, was riding a motorcycle with his wife when a BMW allegedly hit the vehicle from behind near metro pillar number 67. Police said the couple was taken to Nuelife Hospital in GTB Nagar by the occupants of the car. Singh was declared dead at the hospital, while his wife is undergoing treatment.
Who was driving the BMW?
According to police, three PCR calls were received about the accident and the resulting traffic jam in the area. A police team found the BMW lying on its side and the motorcycle near the divider. Eyewitnesses said a woman was driving the BMW at the time of the crash.

The woman driver and her husband, both residents of Gurugram, also sustained injuries and were admitted to hospital. “The BMW and the motorcycle involved in the accident have been seized. The accident spot has been examined by the crime team and forensic experts. An FIR is being registered and an investigation is underway,” a senior officer said.
Police said efforts are being made to establish the sequence of events and circumstances leading to the crash.
