Popular Carnatic singer Sivasri Skandaprasad, is garnering quite the attention on social media as she recently got married to BJP leader and Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya in a simple ceremony. Reports of their engagement had first come in January, but neither of the two had confirmed their alliance then.
Who is Sivasri Skandaprasad?
Sivasri is best known for her singing in filmmaker Mani Ratnam‘s movie franchise ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. Born in 1996, Sivasri is the daughter of Mridangam maestro Seerkazhi Sri J Skandaprasad. Not many know this, but besides being a trained Carnatic musician, Sivasri is also a Bharathanatyam dancer and Namasankeerthanam artist.
She has performed at major concerts in Chennai’s top venues, including Nardagana Sabha and Brahma Gana Sabha, and has accompanied famous Bharatanatyam dancers with her vocals. According to her LinkedIn profile, she is the founder and director of Ahuti, an initiative that aims to inspire young India through online training and experience programs. The website of the platform reads, “Ahuti, art that reflects inclusivity and multiculturalism, evoking the harmony and togetherness of humanity. We have something for everyone!”
Sivasri has also represented India on cultural exchange tours to Denmark and South Korea as part of the Indian Centre for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
Sivasri Skandaprasad – A painter, model, and a bio-engineer!
Sivasri is a multi-talented personality who has various other passions like painting and modeling. In fact, she loves doing commissioned painting projects, and is also a part-time model.
She is also a bio-engineering graduate from SASTRA University, where she focused on drug-induced developmental or fetal defects. Sivasri has been a student of Sanskrit as well and holds a diploma in Ayurvedic cosmetology from the PVA Ayurvedic Hospital. In addition, she has a Master’s degree in Bharatanatyam from the University of Madras.
