Jalandhar-based Pastor Bajinder Singh, the leader of Glory and Wisdom Church, is facing allegations of sexual harassment, mental torture and intimidation. A case has been registered against him after a 22-year-old woman from Kapurthala accused him of inappropriate behavior, including sending vulgar messages and physically harassing her.

According to the complainant, she joined Singh’s church in 2017 and left in 2023. She claimed that in 2022, Singh began making her sit alone in a private cabin during Sunday services, where he allegedly hugged and touched her inappropriately. She filed a police complaint on February 28, leading to an FIR against him. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also taken suo-motu cognizance of the case.

Since the controversy erupted, Singh has reportedly left for Nepal to attend a religious healing event, with his management stating he would return after March 7. The Punjab Police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations against him.

This is not the first time Singh has faced such allegations. In 2018, he was booked in a rape case, with the victim alleging that he raped her at his residence in Sector 63, Chandigarh, and even recorded a video of the assault. His church has also been under scrutiny by the Income Tax department after accusations of financial fraud surfaced, with devotees claiming that he took money from them in exchange for promises of miracles that never materialized.

Who is pastor Bajinder Singh?

Videos of Singh singing ‘Mera Yeshu Yeshu’ at religious gatherings or dramatically “healing” ailments like cancer and AIDS are widely shared on Instagram reels. His YouTube channel has 3.74 million subscribers.

Singh’s ministry, Prophet Bajinder Singh Ministry, presents a carefully crafted image of his life and spiritual journey. The church’s website prominently features his testimony, claiming that he was born in 1982 to a farmer father with a government job. Singh narrates a troubled childhood, claiming he was “harassed by some evil forces” during his school years, which made him irritable and depressed.

According to close associates, Singh hails from a Jat family in Haryana’s Yamunanagar and converted to Christianity over a decade ago while serving time in jail for an alleged murder case, IE reported.

The website further reveals that during his jail time he allegedly contemplated suicide due to severe depression. His website states that he took the names of various deities but found no relief until he encountered a pastor who introduced him to Christianity. Singh claims that divine visions assured him of his acquittal and that he was destined to serve God.

Despite his claims of divine redemption, Singh’s ministry has repeatedly been marred by controversies, with allegations ranging from financial fraud to sexual misconduct.
