Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an emotional statement, has expressed anguish over “abusive politics” by the RJD and Congress in Bihar. The remark came after his late mother was insulted from the stage set by RJD and Congress in Bihar for Rahul Gandhi’s “Vote Adhikar Yatra” in Darbhanga.
‘What wrong had my mother done?’ asks PM Modi
“Mother is our world, mother is our pride. In this prosperous, tradition-rich Bihar, what happened a few days ago, I had never even imagined. Neither I nor my brothers from Bihar could have imagined this,” an emotional PM Modi said.
He added, “No person in India could have imagined this. In Bihar, from the RJD Congress platform, my mother was abused. These abuses are not just an insult to my mother. They are insults to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of this country.”
“I know that all of you, after seeing this, must have felt bad for every mother, every daughter, and every brother of Bihar. I know, the pain in my heart is just as much felt by the people of Bihar,” PM Modi further expressed.
The PM, while virtually launching an initiative, went on to say, “And that’s why, today, when I am seeing millions of mothers and sisters of Bihar, when you are present, after seeing so many mothers and sisters in front of me, I too am a son, and today my heart and my grief is sharing this pain with you, so that with your blessings, I may be able to get justice from this incarceration.”
“…My mother raised us all in extreme poverty… She would never buy a new saree for herself and would save every penny for our family. Like my mother, crores of mothers of my nation do ‘tapasya’ every day.”

He also took a veiled dig at Rahul Gandhi and said that the “yuvraaj” born in “royal families” cannot relate to the “tapasya” of a poor mother. “They were born with a silver spoon in their mouth. They think that the power of the country and of Bihar is the legacy of their family. They feel that they should only get the chair,” he said, before adding that the list of “abuses” they hurled at him is very long.
PM Modi, while slamming this mindset, claimed that during the RJD era, “crime and criminals were rampant in Bihar,” and that they were given protection by the murderers and rapists and women in the state had to bear the brunt.
He then brought President Droupadi Murmu into the picture, saying that Congress has always “disrespected” her because she comes from a poor, tribal family.
“It is very important to stop this politics of hatred towards women. What kind of language is being used?… The land of India has never forgiven those who abuse mothers.”
INDIA bloc’s ‘abusegate’
During Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar’s Darbhanga, a man from a Congress-RJD stage hurled abuses at PM Modi’s late mother. After the video of the August 28 incident went viral, the man was arrested in Darbhanga.
He is identified as Mohammad Rizvi alias Raza and is 20 years old. BJP’s Darbhanga district president, Aditya Narayan Choudhary, had lodged a complaint against him with the police.
