Heavy rain lashes parts of Delhi-NCR, brings respite from hazardous air

Amid continuous rising air pollution, certain areas of Delhi-NCR encountered rainfall during the night between Thursday and Friday, offering a welcome relief to the residents.

These unexpected showers aligned with the Delhi government’s strategy of inducing artificial rain through cloud seeding to mitigate the challenges faced by the populace dealing with a concerning decline in air quality over recent weeks.

Notably, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi-NCR has consistently stayed in the ‘severe’ category for the past week, primarily attributed to a combination of stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana and local factors including vehicular emissions.
