The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather bulletin has forecast that heatwave conditions are expected to continue in North India for today and will gradually lessen its effect. On the contrary, extremely heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Meghalaya, and Assam.
Heatwave red alert issued for East and West Uttar Pradesh
A red alert for severe heatwave conditions in East Uttar Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh has been issued by the IMD. West Uttar Pradesh is likely to have a hot weather spell from June 20 to June 23 whereas West Uttar Pradesh will be affected by it for today. A decline in the heat intensity is expected afterward. Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh are likely to experience heatwave conditions from June 20 to June 23.

IMD Forecast for Monsoon
The Met Department has also tracked the latest advancement of the Southwest Monsoon which is heading into additional areas of Northwest Bay of Bengal, Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. It is anticipated to reach Bihar, Jharkhand, and the remaining areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal in a few days.
Heavy rainfall in THESE states
The IMD has identified a presence of cyclonic circulation over northeast Bangladesh in the lower tropospheric region. This weather pattern is expected to result in isolated heavy rainfall in Manipur, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Assam and Sikkim over the next couple of days. Moreover, two more cyclonic circulations have been located one over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and another over Gujarat. Under its influence, isolated heavy rainfall might occur in Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, from June 20 to June 23.
