The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rain warnings across multiple states for this week, forecasting significant rainfall in regions including Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha, and Delhi. In its latest advisory, IMD issued a yellow alert for Delhi, predicting light to moderate rainfall across the national capital until Thursday. On Tuesday, Delhi experienced intermittent rain, with the maximum temperature reaching 33.6 degrees Celsius. The Safdarjung Observatory, the city’s main weather station, recorded 20.2 mm of rain by Tuesday morning.
In Kerala, an orange alert has been issued for several districts, including Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Idukki, with the IMD warning of isolated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds reaching speeds of 40 km/h in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta districts until Thursday.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan experienced extremely heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday, with Jaipur being the hardest hit, resulting in severe waterlogging and traffic congestion. Local weather agencies predict intermittent rain to continue for the next two to three days.
Himachal Pradesh has also been affected by heavy rainfall, with the water level of the Markhanda River reaching dangerous levels. The IMD has forecast rain in several districts over the next five days, issuing a yellow alert for Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Solan, Sirmaur, Shimla, Una, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur.
In Odisha, a yellow alert has been issued for districts such as Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh, with a severe rainfall alert for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, and Sambalpur until August 14.
Additionally, parts of Haryana and Karnataka, including Gurugram and Bengaluru, experienced heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogging and power outages in some areas.
