The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast indicating the possibility of rain showers in various states of India until September 30. The Met Office has predicted parts of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Tamil Nadu to experience light to moderate rainfall, with some isolated instances of heavy rainfall expected until September 30. 

IMD has also predicted similar weather conditions for Odisha and interior Karnataka on both September 29 and 30. Moreover, a fresh spell of heavy rainfall is likely over East India from September 29.

Additionally, favorable conditions are developing for the Southwest Monsoon to continue its withdrawal from additional areas in Northwest India and the adjoining West Central regions over the next 2-3 days. 

IMD issues orange, yellow alerts for Maharashtra districts

The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for several areas in the Mumbai metropolitan region, including Mumbai itself, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar, for September 28. Furthermore, a similar yellow alert has been issued for Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri for September 29. An orange alert has also been sounded in Ratnagiri for September 28.

Rainfall and thunderstorms likely in parts of East India 

In the Eastern region of India, the meteorological department has predicted light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms with occasional lightning, along with isolated instances of heavy rainfall from September 27-30. This weather pattern is likely to affect the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Odisha from September 29 to October 1, Gangetic West Bengal on September 30, and Jharkhand on both September 30 and October 1. There’s also a possibility of isolated very heavy rainfall occurring in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on September 28-29. Additionally, the Andaman Islands can anticipate squally weather with wind speeds reaching 45-55 knots, gusting to 65 knots, from September 28-29.

Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala to see showers

Moving to South India, light to moderate rainfall is expected to be fairly widespread to widespread, with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Tamil Nadu from September 27-29. Coastal Karnataka can also expect these conditions from September 27 to October 1, while Kerala and Mahe are likely to experience them from September 28-20. Interior Karnataka should prepare for such weather from September 29 to October 1.

IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Goa, Maharashtra

In the Western region of India, light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected to be fairly widespread to widespread, with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Konkan-Goa from September 27-20. Madhya Maharashtra is also likely to experience this weather from September 27-29, and Marathwada on September 27. Additionally, there’s a chance of isolated, very heavy rainfall occurring in Konkan-Goa on September 28-29, as well as in Madhya Maharashtra on September 27.

Rainfall likely in Chhattisgarh

In Central India, light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, is expected to be fairly widespread to widespread. Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Chhattisgarh on September 30 and October 1.
