The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) predictions point towards significant rainfall over several regions in South India. According to weather forecasts, light to moderate rainfall is expected at numerous locations, with isolated heavy rainfall occurrences during the period from November 20-24.
Moreover, isolated very heavy rainfall is also forecast over Tamil Nadu and Kerala on November 22-23.
IMD Rainfall Warning
- Tamil Nadu is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall in many places, with isolated heavy rainfall from November 20-24.
- Kerala and Mahe are anticipated to witness similar weather patterns during the period from November 21-24.
- Coastal Andhra Pradesh is expected to have rainfall today.
- South Interior Karnataka is projected to experience light to moderate rainfall at many places, with isolated heavy rainfall during the span of November 22-24.
IMD issues Orange alert for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala
The meteorological department on Monday also issued an Orange alert indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal for tomorrow and the day after.
“Orange Alert for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal! Prepare for heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.6 to 204.4 mm) on November 22nd and 23rd,” IMD said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The IMD has also released an orange alert for Kerala and Mahe, indicating a probability of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on November 22 and 23, as per the meteorological department’s assessment.
“Heads up for Kerala and Mahe! Expect isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.6 to 204.4 mm) on November 22 and November 23,” IMD said in another post on X.
Meanwhile, over the last two weeks, numerous regions in Tamil Nadu have experienced consistent moderate to heavy rainfall, leading to significant waterlogging in the areas.
