Himachal Pradesh is set to witness fresh snowfall and rainfall in the mid and high hill areas starting January 2, with officials forecasting heavy precipitation from January 4 to 7. According to the meteorological department, the state is expected to experience heavy rainfall on January 5 and 6, while the plains and low hills will likely remain dry.

The weather across the state has been mostly dry in the past 24 hours, with temperatures varying across different regions. Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 7.6°C, while Dharamshala stood at 5.9°C. Manali’s minimum temperature was recorded at 2.4°C, while Bhuntar observed a slightly warmer 2.9°C. Kalpa, one of the colder regions, recorded a chilling minus 3.8°C, while Una had a relatively warmer 4.4°C.

Kasauli’s minimum temperature was recorded at 9.2°C, and Kangra saw a temperature of 5.2°C. Mandi, the hottest area in the state, recorded a maximum of 21.4°C. On the other end of the spectrum, Tabo village in the Lahaul and Spiti tribal district experienced the coldest temperature, with a chilling minus 16.7°C.

Residents and travelers in the state are advised to be prepared for the expected changes in weather, particularly in the higher altitudes, as the fresh snowfall could impact road conditions.
