The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather forecast warned of very heavy rainfall over several parts of Northwest India, including Western Himalayan regions, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh for the next couple of days. Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand are also expected to receive heavy showers. The weather department also informed that the Southwest Monsoon is likely to expand its coverage further over the remaining regions of the country.
Delhi Weather Update:
The National Capital is expected to have a cloudy sky and heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms till Tuesday. As per a report by PTI, civic bodies are on high alert and have deployed equipment and manpower to tackle waterlogging.
IMD’s update on Southwest Monsoon
Southwest monsoon has made further advancement into additional places of Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu, and Himachal Pradesh. The IMD has observed that conditions are favourable for the southwest monsoon to expand its reach over Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, and West Rajasthan in the next 2-1 days.
Heavy rainfall alert:
The Met Department has also identified the presence of a cyclonic circulation over southeast Pakistan near Kutch at lower tropospheric levels and another one over Gujarat and its adjoining areas. For the above-mentioned reasons isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Gujarat, Kutch, Saurashtra, Konkan, Goa, South Interior Karnataka, Puducherry, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh on July 1. Heavy downpour is also expected to take place over Telangana, Coastal Karnataka, Yanam, Lakshadweep, Rayalaseema, Madhya Maharashtra, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh from July 1 to July 3.
One more cyclonic circulation presence has been located by the Weather Department over northeast Assam and east Jharkhand. As a result of these weather circumstances, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in Delhi from July 1 to July 3, East Rajasthan from July 2 to July 4, Chhattisgarh and West Madhya Pradesh from July 1 to July 4. Similar weather conditions are likely to be experienced in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab from July 1 to July 2, Uttarakhand from July 1 to July 4, Sikkim and Sub Himalayan West Bengal will get it from July 1 to July 3. Meanwhile, a heavy wet spell is likely to occur over Mizoram, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Nagaland from July 1 to July 4. Bihar is expected to get heavy rain from July 1 to July 2, whereas East Rajasthan might experience it today.
