The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that there will be a wet spell for the next week, along with scattered downpours/snowfall from January 1 to January 3. The IMD has also notified that on January 5, there will be heavy snowfall with widespread showers in Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit, Ladakh, and Baltistan. Moreover, moderate isolated rains are expected to take place in the Northwest Plains from January 4 to January 6.
Cold Weather, Dense Fog Alert
Isolated cold day conditions are anticipated in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh on January 2. The Met Department has stated dense fog will prevail during late night and early morning hours in isolated areas of Haryana, Odisha, Punjab, and Chandigarh till January 2. On the other hand, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Sikkim, and Madhya Pradesh until January 3. Northeast regions like Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Assam, and Tripura till January 6.
Ground Frost Forecast
Ground frost weather is likely to occur in isolated pockets of Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, and Tripura from January 1 to 3.
Snowfall Forecast for Himachal Pradesh
As per the latest update from the Weather Department, there is a possibility of receiving fresh snowfall and downpours from January 2 onwards in the mid and high-hill areas. The intensity of the snowfall is expected to intensify from January 4 to January 7. Intense rain is also predicted on January 5 and 6. Meanwhile, low hill areas and plains will continue to have dry weather.
Delhi/NCR Weather Update
The national capital is projected to have partly cloudy weather. Moderate fog and smog are likely to be prevalent, while in isolated regions it is expected to be dense fog during morning hours. Smog accompanied by shallow fog is likely to be there during evening and nighttime. For the last three continuous days, Delhi has been under the grip of cold weather conditions.
