An avalanche hit Uttarakhand’s Badrinath and trapped 57 under huge boulders of snow. The incident took place on the National Highway connecting Manan to Ghastoli. Trapped are mostly construction workers. Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and army are engaged in the rescue efforts as roads to the affected area in Mana Village are blocked. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) struggle to reach.
The suspected reason is due to a glacier burst in the Mana Pass region. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami took to X and shared in Hindi, “several laborers were buried due to an avalanche during construction work operated by BRO near Mana Village…I pray to Lord Badri Vishal for safety of all worker brothers.”
ITBP, BRO
