The Army reported on Sunday that four additional bodies have been recovered from the site of a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) project in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district. The avalanche, which struck on Friday, has now claimed eight lives. There were 54 workers when the avalanche hit a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) project site in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on February 28.

Injured workers undergoing medical treatment

AIIMS Rishikesh and the Army Hospital in Joshimath are actively treating injured individuals, with some in critical condition requiring intensive care. PRO Sandeep Singh from AIIMS Rishikesh stated that one patient with a spinal injury has been admitted and is undergoing examination, with surgery likely to take place soon. Another patient with a pelvic injury is expected to be airlifted to AIIMS.

Meanwhile, Major Amit Kumar Mishra at the Joshimath Army Hospital reported that 45 patients are currently receiving treatment, with three in critical condition. One patient is suffering from liver bleeding which is being managed through a blood transfusion. However, doctors are closely monitoring all cases, and their conditions remain stable.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Disaster Control Room at IT Park, Dehradun, for the second consecutive day to oversee rescue operations.
