The principal of a Prayagraj school was allegedly attacked and forcibly removed from her seat in her office on July 2, police said. The newly appointed principal was then allegedly pressured to assume leadership, as per her police complaint.

A video of the alleged encounter appeared on social media. The principal can be seen in a video of the alleged event being forced out of her chair by a group of people who barged into her room. After a furious dispute, the principal finally gave up and her phone was taken away when she was hauled out of her chair. “You are not the principal,” someone is heard addressing the woman at one point.

According to sources, The Indian Express reports, the principal was fired about four months ago when the school was under investigation for allegedly leaking an exam question paper.

The complainant told the police that she heard some commotion at the gate on July 2 while she was working. After seeing the accused on security footage, she locked herself out of her room. The college peon followed her instruction and shut the door from outside. The complainant further said that the accused had broken the glass door and lock, gone into her office, harassed and mistreated her verbally and physically. She also told the cops that they had taken her mobile forcefully.

An FIR was filed against nine named and several anonymous individuals based on her complaint in the concerned police station.

The case was filed under BNS section 121 (Voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 324 (4) (Whoever commits mischief and thereby causes loss or damage to the amount of twenty thousand rupees and more but less than one lakh rupees), 333 (House-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 351 (2) (Whoever commits the offence of criminal intimidation), 309 (4) (robbery) and BSA section 74 (Public and private documents), 76 (Proof of documents by production of certified copies).

Rajeev Kumar Yadav, Assistant Superintendent of Police in Prayagraj, said that they are carefully examining the CCTV material.

Following the purported paper leak of the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (Preliminary) Examination 2024, the college grabbed headlines.
