A potential train accident was averted on Tuesday evening thanks to the quick actions of the loco pilot of the Naini Jan Shatabdi Express. The pilot spotted a six-meter-long iron pole on the tracks between Bilaspur Road and Rudrapur City and promptly applied the emergency brakes, preventing a disaster.

Quick Actions Prevent Disaster

According to railway officials, the incident occurred at 10:18 PM when the loco pilot reported the obstruction to the Station Master at Rudrapur City. The spokesperson suggested that the placement of the iron pole might have been an act of sabotage intended to disrupt train operations.

“The loco pilot’s swift action was crucial in averting what could have been a serious accident. After stopping the train to remove the obstruction, the pilot resumed the journey safely,” the spokesperson stated.

Recent months have seen a concerning trend with various railway divisions reporting similar obstructions on tracks. Instances include gas cylinders, boulders, and broken rails, all potentially designed to cause harm to train operations. In response, railway divisions have lodged FIRs and are actively investigating these incidents to identify and prosecute those responsible.

Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activities or obstructions on railway tracks to ensure the safety of train operations and passengers.
