The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday conducted raids at the premises of Samajwadi Party’s (SP) incarcerated MLA Irfan Solanki in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, as reported by ANI.

According to officials, simultaneous raids were also carried out at the residence of Solanki’s brother, Arshad. Irfan Solanki has been in jail for the past year following allegations from a woman accusing him of attempting to encroach upon a plot. A total of 17 cases have been filed against Solanki.

The MLA is facing charges in various cases, including property disputes, arson, fraudulent air travel with a fake Aadhar card, and providing fake Indian citizenship to Bangladeshi citizens.

Earlier, Solanki had submitted an application to vote in the recently concluded Rajya Sabha elections. However, the court rejected his application.
