Four people, including a woman, lost their lives, and six others sustained injuries after a tempo-traveller crashed into a bus on the Purvanchal Expressway on Sunday, police said.

Both the bus from Chhattisgarh and the tempo-traveller from Maharashtra were en route to Ayodhya when the accident occurred. All the victims were passengers in the tempo-traveller, according to the police.

Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar Singh stated that a cutter was used to rescue the trapped passengers. Two injured individuals were rushed to Lucknow’s trauma center, while four others are receiving treatment at the district hospital.

Authorities suspect the accident was caused after the tempo-traveller’s driver fell asleep at the wheel. The deceased have been sent for post-mortem, and further investigations are underway, police added.
