The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Thursday that since January 20 of this year, the United States had deported 1,563 Indian people, with the majority of those deported travelling on commercial planes. “Since 20 January of this year, till yesterday, some 1563 Indian nationals have been deported from the United States so far. Most of these Indian nationals have come by commercial flight,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a briefing on Thursday. 240 of the 636 Indian people who had previously been deported earlier in 2025 arrived on commercial planes. The deportation statistics are in line with increased US scrutiny of immigration enforcement during the Trump administration. All visa applicants’ social media profiles will be closely examined under the new guidelines.
