Two personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force’s CoBRA unit were killed on Sunday in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district when Naxalites detonated an improvised explosive device (IED).

The incident occurred around 3 pm near Timmapuram village, situated between Silger and Tekalgudem camps where security forces were patrolling.

An advance party of the 201st unit of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) had launched from Silger camp for Road Opening Party duty towards Tekalgudem. The security personnel were in a truck and on motorcycles.

Constable Shailendra (29) and truck driver Vishnu R (35) lost their lives in the IED blast targeted at their truck.

Following the explosion, additional forces were rushed to the area, and efforts are underway to retrieve the bodies from the forest.

Authorities have initiated a search operation in the region to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
