Maharashtra doctor suicide case: A doctor’s suicide in Maharashtra has put the entire state machinery on the edge with officials trying to find the truth behind the woman doctor’s death, and her suicide note that she wrote on her palm. She named two persons –  sub-inspector Gopal Badane and software engineer Prashant Bankar. She accused Badane of raping her multiple times, and Bankar of mentally harassing her. Both have been arrested. But a new twist might pose a challenge for the agencies probing the case.

Arrested engineer, Prashant Banker’s family has said that it was the deceased doctor who continuously harassed him and forced him to marry her. Not only this, the doctor allegedly asked Bankar to maintain a physical relationship with him, a report in TOI stated.

Engineer’s brother, sister reveal shocking details

The brother of the Pune techie said that he was not arrested from a farmhouse in Pune but from their house in Phaltan after he was asked to surrender.

“We had called him and told him to surrender. His social media records and call details have been given to the police. My brother never called the doctor. Instead, it was the doctor who used to call him repeatedly and harass him,” he said.

According to a report, the deceased doctor had been paying a monthly rent of Rs 4,000 to the techie’s family and had been residing at the house for the past year.

Bankar’s sister said his brother recently had dengue infection. “Last month, my brother came to Phaltan to recover from dengue infection. The doctor treated him, and they exchanged numbers. Around 15 days ago, she proposed marriage to him. He turned down the proposal. During Diwali, she seemed tense, but we thought it was work-related. She was like family to us, and our mother treated her as her own daughter,” she said.

The cops said the techie alleged the doctor harassed him by insisting he marry her and maintain a physical relationship. “A large number of chats and call recordings between the accused and the deceased have been found in which she is speaking about stress, pressure, etc,” TOI quoted a police official as saying.

Bankar, accused of mentally harassing the victim and facing abetment of suicide charge, was produced on Saturday before a Satara district court which sent him to police custody for four days.
