Rohini Acharya levelled explosive new charges against her family on Sunday — accusing them of hurling abuse, raising slippers to hit her and more. The daughter of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav had made waves earlier on Sunday after announcing her exit from politics and “disowning” her family following the Bihar election results. Acharya, who had helped save her father’s life a few years ago by donating a kidney, alleged that she was now being criticised for “having her dirty kidney transplanted into him”.
“Yesterday, I was cursed at and told that I am dirty, and that I got my father to have my dirty kidney transplanted into him, took crores of rupees, bought a ticket, and then got that dirty kidney put in…I did what I did to save my god, my father, and today it’s been called dirty. May none of you ever make a mistake like mine,” she wrote in Hindi.
Acharya claimed that it had become a “huge sin” that she “didn’t look after her family” or take permission from her husband and in-laws while donating her kidney. She also reiterated earlier claims that she was abused and attacked by her family on Saturday.
“To all the daughters and sisters who are married, I will say that when there’s a son or brother in your maternal home, never, ever save your god-like father; instead, tell your brother, the son of that house, to get his own kidney or that of one of his Haryanvi friends transplanted… All sisters and daughters should look after their own homes and families, take care of their children and their in-laws’ household without caring for their parents, think only about themselves,” she added.
‘Quitting politics, disowning family’
Yadav posted a cryptic message on social media, blaming two close aides of her brother Tejashwi Yadav, for the poll debacle earlier on Sunday. The incident also came mere months after the expulsion of Tej Pratap Yadav from the RJD.
“I am quitting politics and I am disowning my family. This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do, and I am taking all the blame,” she had written on X soon after the election drubbing.
“I don’t have a family. You should go and ask Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, and Rameez. They are the ones who threw me out of the family. The whole nation is asking why the party failed like this. When you name Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, you are thrown out of the house, disgraced, abused, and even hit with a chappal (slipper),” she later told ANI.
