Three people, including two toddlers, tragically lost their lives and six others sustained injuries after a dumper truck ran over them while they were sleeping on a footpath in Pune’s Wagholi Chowk area. The incident occurred around 1 AM last night.  

The truck driver, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, has been arrested, ANI reported. Authorities have booked him under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is underway, Pune City Police DCP Zone 4 Himmat Jadhav said.

The deceased have been identified as Vaibhavi Pawar (1), Vaibhav Pawar (2) and Vishal Pawar (22), the police said. Six other persons were admitted to the Sassoon General Hospital, they added.
