Senior RSS functionary Indresh Kumar emphasized on Sunday the importance of ensuring that neither “man lynching nor cow lynching” occurs, advocating for peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths.
Speaking to reporters, the RSS national executive member reiterated that the organisation fully supports its chief, Mohan Bhagwat, on the issue of a caste census. “What Mohan ji has said reflects the views of 100% of RSS volunteers. Caste is a reality we cannot deny, but we must avoid the poison of casteism,” Kumar stated.
He further added, “We recognise that there are many religions, and there will continue to be. However, we must remain vigilant against religious fanaticism and the violence it can cause. Everyone should follow their own path while respecting others.”
When questioned about the frequent incidents of lynching by cow vigilantes, which opposition parties have linked to the rise of the BJP, Kumar responded, “In many parts of the country and the world, people consume meat. But we must understand that cows hold deep cultural significance for many. We should create an environment where neither cow lynching nor man lynching happens. We should celebrate unity in diversity.”
As the patron of “Pancham Dham,” Kumar also announced the launch of an initiative by the organisation’s Bihar chapter. The program, which began on Ganesh Chaturthi and will conclude on Maha Shivratri next year, aims to promote a society free from riots and caste-based discrimination, with a focus on compassion for the poor. The initiative was launched at the Singheswar Mahadev Sthan in Madhepura district and will cover 108 Lord Shiva shrines.
