In view of the rain fury in Telangana, the government has ordered all schools and colleges across the state to be closed tomorrow, September 2.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has instructed district Collectors to take necessary precautions to prevent loss of life and property, following a Meteorological Department warning of heavy rains across the state over the next two days.
Severe rainfall has hit the state and its neighbour, Andhra Pradesh. Train services have also been affected as flooding was seen in various districts.
Due to continuous heavy rainfall, the railway track between Kesamudram and Mahabubabad has been inundated, leading to the suspension of all trains between Vijayawada and Warangal, Warangal and Vijayawada, as well as Delhi and Vijayawada.
In Andhra Pradesh, eight people lost their lives in rain-related incidents on Saturday, including five who were killed in landslides in Vijayawada, according to officials.
The Met Centre in Hyderabad has issued a weather advisory warning of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated locations in districts such as Adilabad, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, and others on Sunday. A red warning has been issued for these areas.
