JanaSena Chief Pawan Kalyan has announced that his party is ready to contest the assembly elections in Telangana. The actor-turned-politician said that his party will be contesting on 32 out of 119 seats. The focus will be on the seats located in and around the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits and Khammam district.
The party will be fighting the poll battle in constituencies like Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Nagarkurnool, Vaira, Khammam, Munugodu, Quthubullapur, Serilingampally, Warangal East, Patancheru, Sanath Nagar, Kothagudem, Uppal, Ashwaraopet, Palakurti, Narsampet, Station Ghanpur, Husnabad, Rama Gundam, Jagityala, Nakirekal, Huzur Nagar, Manthani, Kodada, Satthupalli, Warangal West, Malkajigiri, Khanapur, Medchal, Paleru, Illandu, and Madhira.
The actor-turned-politician has also tied hands with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for the upcoming assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. The alliance is aimed at overthrowing Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of the YSR Congress Party.
Pawan Kalyan has worked with the BJP in the past. But in 2014, he established his own political party by the name of the JanaSena Party.
The Telangana elections will be battleground for three parties: the BJP, Congress, and BRS, and at present, the state is governed by K Chandrasekhar Rao of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has served twice, securing 87 seats in Telangana.
According to the Election Commission of India, five states will be undergoing assembly elections by the end of 2023, including Telangana. However, the official dates for casting votes have not been announced, but they are expected to be in November and December.
In order to evaluate Telangana’s readiness for the next Assembly elections, a team from the Election Commission of India (ECI), led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, is there starting on Tuesday, October 3. The team will interact with political parties, law enforcement, and other stakeholders during the course of the three-day tour.
